Memories from the 2010 International Forum on Language Teaching

The experience of attending the International Forum on Language Teaching, in the summer of 2010, was invaluable. Master teachers of world languages shared teaching ideas and enthusiasm with almost 300 elementary – high school teachers, who had gathered to refine their skills on implementing Comprehensible Input-based methods in their classrooms.  It was there, at iFLT, that I began to solidify my dream to start my own teaching company, in order to teach Spanish to adults.  Please enjoy the following images, which show the sharing of ideas, fun, and dedication of world language teachers to CI-based teaching methods.

These photos were taken at the first International Forum on Language Teaching, 2010.  The photos show language teachers from around the country coming together to practice and share Comprehensible Input-based teaching methods, ideas, and stories.  These photos are important because they illustrate what Comprehensible Input-based teaching looks like. These photos also represent some of the best world language teachers, language acquisition academics and theorists, and language masters in action, collaboration, teacher training, and friendship.  I owe much inspiration for Core Fluency International to this conference and the ideas shared there!

CORE FLUENCY INTERNATIONAL teaches world languages by making the material always comprehensible and compelling and fun.  The photos show the untraditional, fun way in which COMPREHENSIBLE INPUT-BASED TEACHING helps students acquire a new language — by encouraging classes to create, act out, and read silly, personalized stories! Although people love to be silly and act out stories, quieter students are welcome to watch and just take in the language and focus on comprehension, as the class is meant to always be fun, relaxing, and stress-free for everyone!
