Terms & Conditions
We guarantee one outcome: you will increase your listening and reading comprehension of Spanish’s frequently used word structures. Comprehension is the foundation of language acquisition, from which all proficiencies (speaking, writing, reading, listening) grow. The frequently used word structures are the phrases, verbs, and vocabulary that are commonly used in every-day conversations, and which will give you ample ways in which to communicate.
We guarantee to provide you with: the proven methods through which to acquire a language. These methods include, but are not limited to: comprehensible input, personalization of the language, ample repetition of comprehensible messages (through both reading and listening), lowering of the affective (fear) factor in the classroom (for example: a relaxed, fun environment in which to acquire a language, no pressure to speak before you feel ready, humor in stories), providing learning opportunities for a variety of learning styles and for different intelligence types.
Refund Policy
1.) In the following policy: the term “the student” is used interchangeably with “you,” and “Core Fluency LLC” is also referred to as “Core Fluency” and as “we” or “us”.
2.) Hours and Packages purchased for Private Instruction or Tutoring (1:1 or Group Sessions) are NON-REFUNDABLE. However, you may reschedule your session up to 48 hours before the session. Cancelation of a session or a lessening of hours, less than 48 hours before the start each session, will result in a loss of that particular session or those unattended hours, if you have already paid for the sessions, unless you (and we) are able to make up the session within the same week.
If you had scheduled a session, but had not pre-paid for the sessions, you will be billed, if you cancel your session within 48 hours of the scheduled time. This bill may be avoided, if you are able to make up the session within the same week. All make-up sessions are dependent upon the availability by Core Fluency. As stated on the Private Instruction page:
LATE CANCELLATION for Private Instruction:
We require 48 hours notice for cancellation of your session – either private sessions or your attendance in group sessions, unless cancelled due to weather or medical emergency. Late cancellation prevents us from opening the spot for another student. In case of late class cancellation (less than 48 hours before your scheduled session), your card on file will be charged or you will be sent an invoice via PayPal. HOWEVER, if you and the teacher are able to reschedule your session in the same week, the charge may be avoided. We are flexible, and happy to reschedule your session in the same week, if we are available.
3.) Packages may have an expiration date. Sessions must be used or forfeited within the time between purchase and expiration date. Unused hours will be forfeited after the expiration date.
4.) Public Group Classes/Workshops/Intensives/Travel Courses/Trips:
A. GROUP CLASSES OR WORKSHOPS:
If you request to cancel attendance and ask for a refund 30 days before the scheduled START DATE of the purchased item (either a course or a set of courses), we will provide you with a full refund, minus an administration fee. This administration fee is $100 for any Weekend Course, $250 for a Week-long Intensive, or $500 for the Semester Program (Jan-May or Sept-Dec). Please be aware that an ongoing class or a set of weekend courses is ONE product, and therefore, request for cancellation and a partial refund must be made 30 days before the START date of the FIRST of the set of course dates. Partial refund will only be made 30 days before the first day of the course or the series of courses. There will be no refunds given when refund request is given less than 30 days before the START DATE of any purchased item (a single class, a weekend course, an intensive course, a semester program).
If you are on a personalized payment plan from Core Fluency or through your credit card or Bill Me Later, you are RESPONSIBLE for paying the ENTIRE cost of the purchased item, even if you do not attend, if you do not give notice of 30 or more days before the start of the purchased item (class, weekend course, week-long intensive, or semester program).
B. TRAVEL IMMERSION COURSES ABROAD:
To cancel a travel immersion course abroad, you must notify Core Fluency before the “Pay in Full” Date for that particular trip. If we are notified before the “Pay in Full” Date, we will refund your deposits less the non-refundable registration fee ($150 per person) and a travel immersion trip cancellation fee ($200 per week of trip per person – student or added guest). No refunds will be issued for cancellations made on or after the “Pay in Full” Date of that trip.
If you are on a personalized payment plan from Core Fluency or through your credit card or Bill Me Later, you are RESPONSIBLE for paying the ENTIRE cost of the purchased item, even if you do not attend, if you do not give notice of cancellation before the “Pay in Full” Date of the trip.
C. CHANGE OF DATES OF CLASSES (Public Group Classes): A change of dates of your classes is granted ONLY if the REQUEST IS MADE 15 days or more BEFORE the START DATE of the purchased item (class, weekend course, week-long intensive, travel course, or set of courses). Change of dates is possible ONLY IF ALL of the following apply: 1) the new dates fall within the same semester of the purchased class or course(s) (Jan – May, or June-Aug, or Sept – Dec) and 2) with 15 days notice before the purchased course begins, and 3) IF OTHER CLASS DATES ARE AVAILABLE BY INSTRUCTOR OR BY CORE FLUENCY LLC. If another class/course/intensive is not available within the same semester of the originally purchased item or you did not request a change 15 days before the class/course’s start date, no change will be made and no refund will be given, and classes will be forfeited. Change of class dates is NOT APPLICABLE TO the FULL SEMESTER Program; you cannot change to a different semester! See below.
5.) No change of dates for Full Semester Program: If you are registered for a semester program: There are no refunds after 30 days before the start date. Also, the \”change of dates\” does not apply, since the change of dates must be made within the same semester. You cannot move your semester program to a later semester.
6.) Other refunds: Except for a refund request 30 days before the start date of any purchased item, CORE FLUENCY DOES NOT GIVE REFUNDS DUE TO THE FOLLOWING REASONS: if you change your mind, if you have alternate plans on class dates, if you are sick, if you decide you made a poor decision or regret the purchase, or if you decide have personal time conflicts with the class and choose to not attend class. Core Fluency does not give refunds for courses or programs purchased if you can no longer attend courses due to moving too far away and/or choosing to not attend classes due to distance, or due to a change in your work or personal schedule.
7.) Classes cancelled due to school closure or weather will ONLY be rescheduled UPON AVAILABILITY of the teacher and the school or venue or location. If the class is not rescheduled nor if they are unable to attend the rescheduled classes, funds for classes missed to weather or school or venue closure will NOT be refunded to students .
8.) Refunds for an unfulfilled guarantee: If you fully participated* in the ENTIRE Core Fluency class, semester program, travel program, weekend workshop, or set of classes for which you registered, and still find that we did not provide what we said we would provide in the “Terms and Conditions” (an opportunity for you to increase your Spanish comprehension), you have the right to request, in writing, a partial tuition refund. This partial tuition refund equals: the tuition price minus an administration fee. Your partial refund request must be made, in writing, within one week of termination of the entire class, course, or purchased program. This administrative fee is $25 for a single evening class, $100 for any Weekend Course, $250 for a Week-long Intensive, $500 for the Semester Program (Jan-May or Sept-Dec), or $800 (per week) of a Travel Immersion Abroad. One exception to this refund: refunds are never given for a Pre-Course Class or the Sample Class, as they are simply a sampling and an introduction to the method for only a limited time.
*Please note that “fully participated” means that you: attended all class sessions [including the Classroom Sessions and the Practicum Session], were present for the entire class [didn’t arrive late or leave early], participated fully in class activities and exercises, completed all of the assigned homework assignments outside of class, and completed the assigned online homework assignments.
9.) The form of refund credit will be chosen by Core Fluency LLC. Core Fluency has the right to choose if it will give refund credits will be made by check, PayPal refund, or credit card refund, to the participants.
10.) If classes or trips are cancelled by Core Fluency (due to low enrollment or any other reason), we will refund your entire tuition paid and cancel any further payments due for this particular cancelled event, class, trip.
11.) Core Fluency is not responsible for reimbursement of your additional purchases of airline tickets, hotel rooms, insurance, or any other arrangements you have made to accompany or make possible your enrollment in a Core Fluency class, course, event, immersion abroad, or trip with Core Fluency. In case of travel with Core Fluency, we highly recommend purchasing travel insurance for your airline tickets, just in case the course abroad is cancelled or postponed for unforeseen reasons (such as weather, global events, or low enrollment).
Group Classes
All group courses must be paid for in advance, via the Shopping Cart on our website (or via checks mailed to Core Fluency one week before classes and with prior registration acknowledgment over the phone or in person with Core Fluency), in order to reserve one’s place in the class.
Transfers of Tuition
Class/Course tuition is non-transferrable to another student(s). See the Refund Policy for the guidelines on refunds or date changes, if you are unable to attend a class.
Other Expenses
Please be aware that you are responsible for all meals and drinks purchased during the Practicum Sessions (i.e. as part of trips to restaurants, shops, entertainment venues outside of classroom instruction) during the Spanish Courses, unless otherwise described as part of the course (i.e. some meals are included in the travel immersion retreats abroad).
You are also responsible for all transportation to and from the classes, course, trip locations, or events associated with class options. This includes: 1) airfare to any of the courses in NYC or to destinations in other countries for the travel immersion retreats abroad; 2) travel to and from classes, local restaurants, or other venues, when offered as part of the class or the Practicum Sessions; 3) all travel or hotel expenses (including travel insurance) incurred in order to attend any Core Fluency course (unless otherwise stated in the course description, that any of these expenses are included in the course, such as lodging, hotel tax, and airport transfers are often included in many of the travel immersion retreats abroad).
You are also responsible for gratuity when there are extra events or tours included in the price of the Core Fluency courses. This means that if Core Fluency provides payment for the additional events (cooking class, yoga class, rain forrest hike, coffee plantation tour) as part of your course or trip abroad, you are still responsible for gratuity. You will be expected to tip the instructor or outside company that provides this service.
Sometimes there are additional options to purchase while on trips (such as boat trips, surf lessons, zip-lining, spa treatments). If these are optional and not included in the course description, payment and gratuity for these additional options are your full responsibility.
Payment Plans
If you have chosen to spread out the payments of your purchase of any Core Fluency Spanish course (Semester, Monthly Courses, Intensive, or Study Course Abroad), you agree to allow Core Fluency International to continue to charge your credit card or deposit your pre-written checks on a monthly basis until the entire balance has been paid, regardless of whether or not you decide to attend the complete semester of classes. If Core Fluency does not receive your checks on the due date, or if a check bounces, your credit card (the same one used to register for the course/make an initial payment) will be charged for the amount of the check plus a $100 fee per transaction. Pre-written checks may be given to the teacher on the first day of class or in any class before the due date or may be mailed to Core Fluency (see address on the Contact Page), if you have arranged by phone with Core Fluency to pay by check instead of pre-paid with PayPal or by Credit Card.
Warrantees
You acknowledge that you are not relying upon any warranties, promises, guarantees, or representations made by us or anyone acting or claiming to act on behalf of us unless it is in writing and made a part of this agreement. All advertising materials and all prior representations or agreements, if any, whether oral or written, are hereby superseded by this agreement. This agreement contains the entire understanding and agreement between you and us and no addition or modification of any terms shall be effective unless set forth in writing and signed by you and us. No one other than us has authority to modify the terms of this agreement.
I understand and agree to respect the intellectual property, materials, logos, photographs, videos, and all content (from here on collectively referred to as “Content”) provided to me during a Core Fluency language program and acknowledge this intellectual property is protected by Copyright. No Content of Core Fluency’s programs or any Internet site owned, operated, licensed, or controlled by us may be copied, reproduced, republished, downloaded (other than page caching), uploaded, posted, transmitted, altered, or distributed in any way, or sold, resold, visited, or otherwise exploited for any commercial purpose. We grant you a limited license to access and make personal use of the program, which allows you to download on one computer – or receive in class- one (1) copy of the Content that we make available to you for your personal, noncommercial use only, provided that you: (a) keep intact all copyright, trademark and other proprietary rights notices; (b) do not modify any of the Content; (c) do not use any Content in a manner that suggests an association with any of our products, services or brands; and (d) do not download Content so as to avoid future downloads from the program. Your use of Content on any other website or computer environment is strictly prohibited.
These Terms and conditions constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding Core Fluency’s program and supersedes any prior or contemporaneous agreement regarding that subject matter.
